      Uber GO kicks off low cost car for hire service in India, Charges minimum fare of Rs. 40

      Uber Technologies Inc has been in the news for quite a while now. The global online luxury car hiring services reportedly has operations in over 120 cities across the globe from which about six are in India itself. This time around the company has kicked off the UberGO service that provides with ultra low-cost cab service solution. The services would be available across major cities likes Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Pune.

      Commenting more on the occasion, the company’s blog reads as, “We are excited to announce the launch of UberGO; a spanking new range of low cost, chauffeur-driven hatchbacks (think Etios Liva and Maruti Ritz) that roll onto the streets of every Uber city in India today. For this launch, drivers are able to connect to the Uber platform using devices provided by our technology partner, Huawei. At launch, we're testing the very limits of low pricing with 25 percent off on regular fares. No promo code is necessary, this promotion will be automatically applied to your uberGO rides in Delhi-NCR.”

      The UberGo customers in Delhi are expected to pay a minimum fare of Rs. 40. The base fare starts at Rs. 20 and post that cutomers are expected to pay an additional amount of Rs. 8 per kilometre. While booking, the customers may incur charges of about Rs 0.65 per minute on their phone. Describing its services in India, the company said, “Now there's an Uber for your every need; use UberGO for your everyday commute and errands, request an UberX when you have company, and step up to UberBlack when you mean business.”
