Maruti Suzuki’s AMT technology has created a lot of ripples this year. The first one to receive an AMT transmission from Maruti Suzuki’s production line was the Celerio hatchback that has managed to accumulate a lot of popularity in the segment. Recently, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the AMT technology in its popular Alto K10 trim. As per fresh updates, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Stingray is also slated to receive an AMT transmission sometime soon.
As per reports, the Wagon R Stingray shall be powered by 1.0 Liter K10 petro engine that shall be mated to five speed automatic gearbox that has been serving the newly launched K10 and Celerio hatchbacks. Pricing aspect on the upcoming car is unknown for now, but it is likely that Maruti Suzuki may offer the AMT Stingray at a slightly premium price of about Rs 30,000 - 35,000 over the current manual-gearbox equipped version. Magnetti Marelli has been the supplier for AMT kits in Maruti Suzuki cars and receives about 3500 AMT kits from them. The numbers are likely to witness an increase and about 5,000 kits may be delivered every month.
