TVS Motor Company's popular 110cc scooter - the Jupiter - has set a milestone by registering sales over 500, 000 units in 18 months. Launched in September 2013, the Jupiter scooter has turned out to be a huge success for the company. The scooter has been favoured by consumers for its styling, comfort, features and performance.
The TVS Jupiter is powered with an all-aluminum 110cc engine that churns out a maximum power of 8bhp at 7500rpm and a peak torque of 8Nm at 5500rpm. Mated to a V-matic transmission, first-in-segment to feature the pass light switch, it returns a fuel economy of 62kmpl. Claimed to be the fastest in its league, the Jupiter achieves 0-60kmph in 7.2 seconds.
The scooter has an under-seat storage capacity of 17-litre, thus allowing a full-size helmet, and a fuel tank capacity of 5.3-litre. For celebrating the first anniversary of the Jupiter, the company introduced a ‘Limited Edition of the scooter, in January 2015 with new colors and additional features. The scooter is now available in a total of six colour options - Titanium Grey, Midnight Black, Matte Beige, Volcano Red, Mercury White and Sparkling Silver.
The TVS Jupiter has also been awarded as the top quality scooter in the J D Power India Two Wheeler Initial Quality Study 2015. Available at Rs. 44, 200 (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the Jupiter competes against the likes of Honda Activa, Mahindra Gusto, Hero Maestro, Suzuki Let’s and Yamaha Ray.
