Toyota India is all set to step into the mid-size SUV segment with an all-new model. To be called ‘Urban Cruiser Hyryder’, the carmaker will debut the new SUV in the country on 1 July.
The first teaser video released by Toyota reveals the exterior styling of the SUV, which comprises a split headlamp setup, a closed-off front grille with a horizontal chrome insert, dual D-shaped split tail lamps with a chrome bar on the boot, and the ‘Hybrid’ badge on the front fender. It is also likely to be available with dual-tone exterior shades like blue with black roof and red with black roof.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will enter the production line sometime in August followed by its market launch and price announcement. The SUV will be built at the automaker’s plant in Bidadi, Karnataka and will also be exported to other international markets.
It is to be noted that the Hyryder is the first model that is developed jointly by Toyota-Suzuki and thus, will be followed by its Maruti counterpart in the coming months. Further, it is most likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid technology.
