      Toyota to set-up new R&D facility in China, will sell China-made hybrid cars by 2015

      Toyota Motor Corp., the largest car maker in the world, is all ready to invest $689 million to set-up a new Research & Development facility in the eastern China city of Changshu to develop low emission technology for vehicles. In a statement issued on Saturday, the company said that it will commence the selling of China made hybrid car by year 2015.

      Located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) northwest of Shanghai, the new R&D center of Toyota Motors will be ready with initial facilities like testing tracks by year 2013. The company has said that will also be cooperating on environment friendly technologies with its partners and other car makers in the Chinese market.

      The move came after the Chinese government showed its interest in the development of environmentally friendly vehicle by international car makers. The government wants that these global car makers share their know-how on eco-friendly technologies with their respective local partners in China.

      The company has also shown its interest in selling china made hybrid vehicles with its joint venture partners including the likes of Guangzhou Automobile Group Co and FAW Group. Toyota has been appreciated for its highly efficient hybrid technologies throughout the world. The company sells the popular hybrid cars like Prius in a number of global markets.
