      Toyota, Nissan and Honda Increase their Production

      Three major auto giants have stepped up their production plans and capacities in India owing to the increasing demands from Russia, India and China.

      With the increasing demand from growing Indian auto market, global production capacity of each of the three companies has increased over the past month.

      Toyota increased its global production by 8.8 percent making its capacity to produce 727,040 vehicle in April 2008. Honda stepped up its global production to 329,091 units which meant that overseas output was 19 percent higher. It was mainly due to increase in its demand for CRV sports utility model. Honda currently makes Civic, City and Accord models in India. It has now set up its second factory in Rajasthan India.

      Nissan already has a partnership with Toyota and Bajaj in India where it plans to bring a Nano-competitor by 2011. It global production was 296,760 units as its overseas output recorded gains of 16 percent and domestic output reported increase of 42 percent.
