Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed up rising Indian cricket star Virat Kohli as its brand ambassador in the country. He was chosen for this distinct position as he symbolises the company's idea of youth and suits its vehicles, which are ‘fun and exciting to drive’. This move will help the car maker in getting associated with the youth of India, which account for over 60 per cent of the national population. Kohli is already recognised as a young star who has passion and dedication towards his work and has done exceedingly well at the international arena in cricket, the most popular sport in the country.

While talking about his new association as the brand ambassador of Toyota India, Kohli said, “I am excited to be a part of Toyota’s drive to connect with India’s youth. Toyota inspires the spirit of success and that is an emotion that is close to my heart.” He is already the brand ambassador of Indian two wheeler manufacturing major TVS Motors. The Indian division of the Japanese automotive giant will, now, come up with an array of new electronic and print advertisements centred on Virat Kohli, with focus on capturing the market of young car buyers of India.

Speaking about signing up Kohli, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Sandeep Singh, commented, “We are extremely happy to announce Virat Kohli as our brand ambassador. He brings with him all the emotions that Toyota aims to offer its customers through its vehicles – passion, exuberance, energy, fun and excitement. Toyota’s journey in India and Virat’s journey in cricket bear similarities. From a budding player, both went on to become a promising player, in such a short duration of time. Brand Toyota and Virat Kohli both represent perfection and continuous improvement. The synergy would bring about more fun and excitement to all Toyota customers.”

Toyota India has grown from strength to strength in the domestic market, leveraging on its automotive expertise to introduce new vehicles in each segment. The recent entrants in its line up include Etios entry level sedan and Etios Liva premium hatchback, which have helped it in making inroads into the two segments. It has also launched the refreshed versions of its two highly acclaimed Utility Vehicles (UVs), namely the Innova Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) and Fortuner premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which have been received warmly in the market.
