Indian auto industry is already flooded with numerous sedans and despite this several other models are all set to make their way in the market. One of the two models that made their impact on the market is Toyota Etios facelift and Tata Zest. Both of these players are present in the market from a long time now and have wooed the Indian audience. Coming to their respective models, Etios facelift feature some minor cosmetic changes.

Coming to the technical specifications of both these models, the Japanese model comes in an option of both petrol and diesel engine options, namely 1.5-liter DOHC petrol and a 1.4-liter SOHC diesel. In contrast, the Indian model features a newly developed 1.2-liter 4-Cyl Revotron petrol engine and 1.3 liter Quadrajet diesel powertrain. Although against Toyota’s mill, Tata’s new engine looks much smaller in capacity and size, it generates enough torque and power output. The diesel engine of Zest churns out a maximum power of 88.77 bhp with a peak torque of 200 Nm while its petrol counterpart is capable of pumping out 83.3 bhp and 140 Nm, respectively.

On the other hand, the petrol engine of Etios develops 88.77 bhp of highest power and 132 Nm torque while its diesel engine lags a bit with 67.07 bhp and 170 Nm in the same space. In order to transmit the produced output, Tata has equipped an F-tronic 5-speed Semi Auto box for the diesel Zest whereas the petrol version has normal 5-speed manual gearbox. Toyota is also offering a sophisticated transmission system which is more refined and practical.

In terms of looks, Zest has refreshingly new profile with appealing lights fitted with projector headlamps. With sharp and sleek lines all over its exteriors and chrome front grille, the car looks like a decent package all over. On the contrary, Toyota Etios exudes a much relaxed and soothing front fascia with reworked metallic imprints on front grille. Notably, body colored outer rear view mirrors is standard in both these cars. At interiors, Tata has designed its car with a whole new level of Beige-Black theme with a blend of metal and chrome for that subtle richness in the cabin. Along with, the car features a 5’’ HARMAN touch screen infotainment system with inbuilt MapMyIndia SATNAV system.

In another model, one can find rather serene interiors without much fancy advancements. The dual-tone brown beige upholstery complements the cabin with faux wood finish inserts on doors. There is a 2 DIN music system with screen and remote controller for relaxed acoustic sound.

As far as pricing of both of these sedans are concerned, Toyota has very boldly priced its model. The car comes at an ex-showroom price ranging between Rs. 5.74 lakhs and Rs. 8.16 lakhs, a bit high according to the market standards, but it still manages to record decent numbers. On the other hand, Tata has strategically priced Zest between Rs. 4.64 lakhs and Rs. 6.99 lakhs.
