Tata Motors is known for quality and innovation in its products, and this time the company is back with a change for the safety of school students. Keeping in mind, the worries and tensions in the minds of the parents after they drop off their students at the school bus stop, Tata Motors has devised a tracking device for the same. Such a tracking device, which goes by the name “SKOOLMAN”, will notify the parents as well as the school authorities about the location, arrival as well as the departure of the school bus.
Tata Motors also launched their brand new Ultra BS3 – Safe School Bus, which comes with this technology already installed in it. This launch was made at the SIAM Bus & Special Vehicle Show held at India Export Mart, Greater Noida. The authorities say that Tata SKOOLMAN will help the parents keep a track of the arrival and departure of the school bus, and the present status of the bus. This will help in eliminating the need to wait at the stop for long hours while the bus is still stuck in traffic many blocks away. This commendable innovation will also help in recording any inactivity on the behalf of the driver of the bus, and the school authorities could take the action.
Senior Vice President of Commercial Vehicles Business Unit of Tata Motors said that they feel that the safety of the students is of foremost importance and steps need to be taken in order to avoid any mishap or problem caused to them. He is of the view that such steps and leaps will help in the elimination of crimes occurring on the street, and above all, help in creating awareness and minimize casualties. It is evident that Tata Motors has also launched initiatives like “Dream it to Win it” having a similar approach to that of SKOOLMAN.
The Tata SKOOLMAN will notify the parents as well as the school authorities by generating an automatic text alert for arrival or for just in time pick-up of the students from the nearest bus stop. A mobile application will also be launched enabling the parents as well as the authorities to track the exact location of the bus through a map. The updating time is kept at 10 seconds that is the exact location of the bus will be updated every 10 seconds, which thus will help in tracking of the bus more efficiently.
The innovation will also help in managing the routes, and helping the driver to choose the alternate best routes. It will also assist in preventing the entry of the bus in those zones that the school and parents feel unsafe about. The best feature of this innovation will be that the buses could be optimized for best performance, and least wastage of fuel, and hence will help save the budget to a large extent.
