Tata Nano is doing its share of rounds in the news columns once again and this time it is for all the right reasons. The car has just completed its Super Drive around the country which was flagged off on June 02 at the inauguration ceremony of its new mother plant in Sanand, Gujarat. The cars, each festooned with a theme, travelled across 36 cities on three routes. The company organised a celebration ceremony for Nano owners in every city.

The mother plant production will be increased to 30,000 units per month from March 2011. Tata Motors has already announced that it will ramp up its production plans at the Sanand plant to meet the rise in demand. According to an official of firm that supplies critical components to the auto major, the vendors on an average supply parts for 10,000 units per month but they have been asked to triple the supply by March 2011.

Meanwhile, Nepal customers will take a test drive of Tata Nano next month. Tata Motors has selected Nepal as the first international market for Nano. However, commercial sale of Nano will not begin there before 2011. "The bookings for the cars will probably start at the end of this year. We are getting as much as 20 enquiries a day for Nano. We already have a list of 4,000 persons who are most likely to buy the car," a source at Sipradi Trading, who are the official dealers of Tata Motors in Nepal. He also said that the car may be over-priced in the Nepalese market owing to the 300 percent duty on imported cars. The expected price of the car in Nepal is Rs. 4.5 lakh.
