All eyes were set on Tata Nano, which was expected to revive the car’s fortunes in India, however, if the reports received recently, are trusted, Tata Motors has completely stopped the project for an indefinite period. The team, which was behind the project, has been reassigned different projects. Incidentally, the Engineering Research Centre at Pimpri was assigned the job to revive the Nano. However, the entire team has been shifted to some different project according to the reports.

There are no confirmed reports about the recent stopping of the revival of Nano. However, there are some speculations that deregulation of diesel price by the Indian government is behind the entire decision. This has directly led to the bridging of the price gap between petrol and diesel cars. This has led to the decrease in the importance of diesel cars and most customers are transferring back to petrol cars. The asking price of the car is expected to boost up, which might also be one of the reasons for stopping its production entirely. Tata Motors was also having a hard time dealing with NVH levels, which is Noise, Vibration and Harshness levels, for the engine make of Nano diesel.

Due to the shifting of focus from Nano diesel, the resources have been reallocated the triple cylinder petrol engine project. This will make it fall in line with the likes of Hyundai Eon, Datsun Go and Maruti Alto 800. The car will also get some mechanical as well as cosmetic updates and is trying to place itself in the compact hatchback segment. Going by this, Nano is set to face a disappointing outing regarding the diesel engine car. It is only a matter of time to decide whether the new petrol variant is able to make up for its diesel counterpart, as well.
