      Tata Motors Promotes UV Sales in Gujarat

      Gujarat state accounted for more than eight percent sales of utility vehicles for Tata Motors, and it holds total 13 percent share across the country with the segment clearly dominated by Mahindra and Mahindra.The company has now executed a new marketing strategy for Gujarat state to boost sales and tap the untouched market there. The latest launch of Tata Aria has in fact boosted its market share to 12 percent in UV segment in Gujarat.

      "Through this new premium product we are confident of enhancing our play in the UV segment significantly," said S G Saxena, utility vehicle product group head, Tata Motors passenger car unit at the launch of Tata Aria. This year 1.54 lakh vehicles have been sold in the segment in the first six months of this fiscal, clocking a 21 per cent growth rate on a year-on-year basis. Tata Motors has grown at the rate of 22 percent in this fiscal which is thus above the industry average.

      "The competition cars are imported into India as completely built units(CBUs), and thereby attracting a huge duty. We have an advantage in this regard and hope to crack the market soon". Tata Aria competes against models like Toyota Fortuner, Honda CRV, and Mitsubishi Outlander.
