Tata Motors, India's leading Commercial Vehicle (CV) maker, has officially declared its mood to foray in Indonesia, which is believed to be the largest auto industry in ASEAN. The company has established a completely owned division in Jakarta, named PT Tata Motors Indonesia, through which it will debut in both passenger vehicle and CV segment of the country.

It is believed that Indonesia happens to be a key market for the company, wherein an array of vehicles is present across different segments. Tata Motors has planned to introduce its vehicles there from 2013 and thus, the company seems to be in a full swing with extensive preparations for the same.

Speaking on the development in Jakarta, the Executive Director (CV segment) of Tata Motors, Ravi Pisharody, quoted, “Our portfolio is globally benchmarked. We are confident that our vehicles will be a smart choice for the discerning customers of Indonesia. Based on customer feedback, we will progressively introduce relevant passenger and commercial vehicles, backed by appropriate distribution and service infrastructure such that we are closest to our customers.”

Expressing the same sentiments, President Director of PT Tata Motors Indonesia, Biswadev Sengupta, said, “Our research is showing that there is a large opportunity for Tata vehicles in Indonesia, with operating conditions and customer needs being very similar to those in India. We are very confident of providing smart mobility solutions. At present, our focus is in creating a very robust service and spares support network.”

Reportedly, PT Tata Motors Indonesia will open the doors of around 10 to 15 authorised dealerships, which will offer service, sales and spare parts of the models introduced by the company. As per the plans, the auto maker will establish around 60 official full service dealers in tenure of three years with over 100 workshops and around 300 additional spare parts distributors.

Following this development, the company is also framing plans to establish a production base in Indonesia to meet the emerging demand of the whole ASEAN region. Reportedly, the company will showcase 14 CVs and passenger vehicles on September 20, which will be later offered to the PT Tata Motors Indonesia.
