Pune is already witnessing new auto car makers arriving each day. It is shaping up as Detroit of India. Now, it shall have the Italian car designer, Pininfarina in its arena.
The Italian car designer Pininfarina Spa shall open their design, research and engineering center in Pune by the end of this year. Tata Group shall have some stake in the venture and shall also strengthen its strategic ties with considerable capital investment.
Pininfarina is one of the best car design firms in the world. It has designed cars for Ferrari since past 50 years. It has also designed and built some of the best looking cars in the world like the Ferrari Enzo, Maserati Quattroporte, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, Volvo C70, Ferrari 599, Ford Focus CC and most recently, the Maserati GranTurismo. Pininfarina has also provided and industrial and interior design consultation to various corporate clients all these years.
Pininfarina had been in financial trouble since past few months and had been seeking partner in its contract manufacturing activities. It had also made recent deals with Volvo and Ford. The company has one of the greatest brand values and just adding their badge to a car increases the over all value.
