The all-new Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the GSX-S1000F have been launched in India at Rs. 12.25 lakh and Rs. 12.7 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) respectively. Unveiled at the Intermot 2014 – Cologne Motorcycle Show, the siblings share the platform, engine and features. Just so you know, the GSX-S1000 is a naked roadster, while the GSX-S1000F is a fully faired version of the bike.
Powering the bikes is a new 999cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine that also does duty on the GSX-R1000. Paired with a 6-speed transmission, it delivers a maximum power of 160bhp at 9500rpm. Both the bikes get twin disc and a single disc brake on the front and rear tyres respectively. And ABS (anti-lock braking system) comes as a standard fitment. The available colour options for both the bikes are -Glass Sparkle Black/Candy Daring Red and Metallic Triton Blue.
Coming to the dimensions, the GSX-S1000 and the GSX-S1000F measure 2,115mm in length and 795mm in width, and have wheelbase of 1,460mm. While the naked roadster measures 1, 080mm in height, the faired one is taller with a measurement of 1,180mm. The sibling bikes have a ground clearance of 140mm and seat height of 810mm. The inverted telescopic, coil spring front and rear link type, coil spring suspension aid to the bikes handling and ride quality.
