Suzuki Gixxer is the latest entrant in the segment of 150-160 cc motorcycles, which is often considered to be the most volatile is the Indian market. This is mainly because of the fact that this category has the most number of entries from the renowned two-wheeler manufacturers in the nation. There is a stiff competition among the top players in this segment and with the entry of the Gixxer, the competition just got a bit stiffer. Suzuki, the popular Japanese brand renowned for its path-breaking products, both in the category of automobiles as well as two-wheelers, has left no stone unturned to make Gixxer a super performing model. Complementing the sharp features are the bold looks and attractive appearance, which have made the Gixxer all the more alluring.

When it comes to competition, Gixxer is giving a stiff fight to some of the best names in the segment. So much that it has even hit a ripple to Bajaj Pulsar, which is sometimes regarded unofficially as the leader in this segment. The Gixxer has an engine displacement of approximately 155 cc and is powered by a single cylinder. The maximum power produced by this mill is 14.80 PS. The maximum torque output from this machine is of 14 Nm. Power is transferred to the wheels via a five-speed manually transmitted gearbox. Petrol is used as the fuel for this bike and the carburettor type fuel system has been employed. For a superior riding experience, the bike has been provided with a telescopic front suspension and a mono shock, swing arm type suspension at the rear. Disc brakes have been installed on the front wheel whereas drum type braking system is installed on the rear wheel.

Bajaj Pulsar 150 is powered by a 149 cc 4-stroke engine that is air-cooled and has a single cylinder. The mill generates a maximum power of 15.06 PS at the rate of 9000 rpm. At a reduced rpm of 6500 rpm, the maximum torque output of 12.5 PS is reached. The front wheels use a telescopic suspension with an anti-friction bush, whereas the rear wheel uses a five-way adjustable, Nitro shock absorber. All of this together combined gives the rider a smooth ride even on uneven terrains. Like the Gixxer, disc brakes have been installed on the front and drum brakes on the rear. With the 15 litres fuel tank capacity, the bike has enough reasons to be adjudged the best in this segment. Let us see, whether the Gixxer is able to thwart its position or be just another addition to this category with a good potential.
