      Successful strategy employed by top auto maker; Export Indian made car to overseas markets

      Most of the multinational automobile corporations operating in the country have started large scale manufacturing operations of their respective products, which are aimed at car enthusiasts residing in both domestic and international markets. The scene is getting more and more evident as top car makers like Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Renault amongst others, have installed their own production units and export surplus of their yield to auto markets outside India.

      Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is the country's largest exporter of passenger cars and second largest car manufacturer in India, at present. The South Korean has cultivated the idea and became the first foreign automobile firm to begin exporting Indian made products to overseas markets on a large scale (million units). HMIL has two production facilities in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu that together produce an annual yield of close to 630,000 units. Evidently, Hyundai Motors became the first automobile corporation in the country to export more than 10 lac units of passenger cars in just a little more than ten years of start of its manufacturing operations on Indian turf. At present, the South Korean auto giant exports vehicles to over 120 countries across auto markets in European Union, Middle East, Latin America, Africa, Asia and Australia.

      BMW, the stylish German sports and luxury car making brand, assembles its in-vogue X1 compact SUV in the country. The company retails X1 in various Indian metropolitans and cities at a very competitive pricing, due to its Indian make and assembly through Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. The German auto maker also exports a big number of X1 compact SUVs to various overseas markets of South East Asia and Europe.

      The Indian arm of Renault, a French auto maker, shot to a remarkable success and critical acclaim when its compact SUV Duster began breaking all the sales and delivery records, upon its launch its launch in the country. The company assembles Duster at its Chennai based Oragadam manufacturing unit, which helped in devising an aggressive pricing for the compact SUV. The Duster won Indian hearts instantly capitalised an impressive market share, thanks to lack of a potent direct competitive models. The French auto major has already revealed intentions to soon start exporting its Indian made Duster compact SUV to the automotive sectors of United Kingdom, Western Africa, South Africa, Singapore and Malaysia.
