Netherland based automaker Spyker cars is planning to enter the Indian market. It will import its cars in India and has shortlisted two potential partners that will sell its cars in Delhi and Mumbai to start with. "Spyker is always looking for the right partners in viable markets for the brand and we are discussing with a number of potential partners in many new markets, India included," the Sales Department of the luxury sports car maker said. It also stated that the company has intentions to launch a Spyker product in 2011 that will be a completely built unit imported directly from Netherlands.

Spyker did not reveal details of the models that will be imported in India but is expected that the same will be priced at a few crores. Its model C8 Spyder Aileron is priced at Rs. 1.6 cr in the UK, and this car was driven by Sharon Stone in her blockbuster movie ‘Basic Instinct.” Other models include LM85, C12 Zagato and D8 Peking-to-Paris.

Spyker is not a new name to Indian automobile enthusiasts. UB Group Chairman Vijay Mallaya and Dutch entrepreneur Jan & Michiel Mol jointly acquired Spyker Formul One team which has now been christened as Force India.
