Skoda Yeti has been termed as the Family Car of the Year 2010 by the Czech Motoring Journalists Club and has become the first SUV ever to win the title. The jury selected Yeti amongst 37 other selected models where Vauxhall/Opel Astra was the first runner up followed by Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the BMW X1 and the Volkswagen Polo. “We are proud to be entitled to use the 2010 Czech Motoring Journalists Club (KMN) Car of the Year” title, one of the reasons being that the new Yeti has become the first SUV in history to have won this prestigious award“, says Jan Hurt, Head of Skoda Sales, Central Europe.

Top Gear UK, one of the most recognized and popular auto publication, also names Yeti as the Family Car of the Year 2010. “The Yeti has been an instant hit with the Top Gear magazine office,” Conor McNicholas, the magazine's editor said. “We love the styling, the handling, the quality, the space, the clever touches and yes, the name. If you’re looking for a family car it should be top of your list to check out, simple as that. The Yeti feels like part of the Top Gear family.”

Skoda Yeti was launched in the UK market in September 2009 priced at £13,775. It offers traditional 4x4 ride offering more security and safety clubbed with running cost and practicality of a hatchback model. It looks like a perfect cross-over vehicle for the family that comes with useful features as standard like aero window wipers with an intermittent function, a rear window wiper, halogen projector car headlight bulbs with DE-module.

Skoda intends to launch the model in India in 2010 and is expected to showcase the model at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo. The expected price of the upcoming model is Rs 10.5 lakh and above. The car will be a cheaper alternative to Hyundai Tucson.
