Indian auto market has been looking quite promising to nearly every auto maker around the world. The passenger vehicle segment grew at 21.21 percent from April to September 2009. Passenger Cars grew by 22.06 per cent, utility vehicles grew by 12.15 per cent and Multi Purpose Vehicles (MPV) grew by 31.46 per cent in this period. The domestic car sales have witnessed a rise of 36.7 percent to 113,687 units from 83,121 units in November 2009 as compared to same period last month.

Commercial vehicle sales have also doubled to 40,874 units in comparison to 20,631 units in November. The motorcycle sales have also increased by 42.4 percent at 614,274 units in November compared to 431,171 units in the same month a year ago.

The growth in Indian automotive sector including two-wheelers is luring auto makers from around the world to place Indian customers on priority. India is the second fastest growing auto market in the world after China. Most of the auto makers were conspicuously absent from the recent Tokyo Auto Show held recently. Although most of them cited cost-cutting measures as the reason for their absence but each one of them is visibly putting their best foot forward at the Delhi Auto Expo.
