      Skoda Octavia launched in India at Rs.13.6 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom New Delhi)

      The wait for lovers of the Skoda Octavia has ended as the Volkswagen Group owned Czech-based auto maker has launched the third generation version of the sedan in India. A lot of hype had already been created about the introduction of the new Octavia, which was unveiled in Mumbai on the 9th of August. Everyone present at the showcasing, media and industry experts, were pretty impressed with the styling of the new Octavia. Industry experts feel that there are strong chances of the Octavia performing well due to the upcoming festive season, which might bring in a change of fortunes for the auto maker. This sedan has been launched at an introductory price of 13.6 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The event was held amidst tremendous buzz and enthusiasm with top company officials making an appearance. Notably, the new Octavia is really important for Skoda as its performance has not been that good in the recent past due to a number of reasons.

      Present at the launch of the Skoda Octavia was Werner Eichhorn, a part of Skoda's Board for Sales and Marketing, who spoke about the new car. “The new Octavia is a great car that meets the needs of Indian customers perfectly: lots of space, modern design, excellent quality and advanced technology at an affordable price," he said.

      Skoda Octavia is going to be available in both petrol and diesel engine variants with seven trim levels. There are two petrol variants of the Skoda Octavia, which will be powered by 1.4-litre and 1.8-litre engines. On the other hand, the diesel version of the Octavia is going to be fitted with a 2.0-litre TDI engine. The seven trim levels of the Octavia are named 1.4 TSI Active, 1.4 TSI Ambition, 1.8 TSI AT Elegance, 2.0 TDI Active, 2.0 TDI Ambition, 2.0 TDI AT Ambition and 2.0 TDI AT Elegance. In addition, the colour options of the new Octavia include Brilliant Silver, Capuccino Beige, Metal Grey, Candy White, Magic Black and Rio Red. The 1.4-litre petrol engine will produce maximum power of 138 bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm whereas the 1.8-litre powertrain is churn out around 178 bhp and top torque of 250 Nm.

      The all new Skoda Octavia has a number of features that have been designed to add to its appeal. One of the highlights of this sedan is the inclusion of Bi-Xenon headlamps, which have been added to provide higher levels of illumination. These headlamps also enhance the overall styling of the car along with improving driveability through the dynamic leveling function. There is a panoramic sunroof, equipped with tinted glass, which helps in reduction of light and thermal transmittance. The electronic controller for the roof window that helps the driver to open or close it as per her/his convenience, thereby ensuring that pleasant weather outside is enjoyed. Interiors of this sedan are equipped with several technologically advanced features that offer enhanced comfort and convenience. The presence of a 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat makes it really easy to adjust as per personal preference. Also, there are three memory settings, which can be used to store the positions of the seat and mirrors. The highly advanced air conditioning system has a dual-zone cooling function and adjustable vents for complete comfort. Apart from this, there is an entertainment system that boasts of a 5.8-inch display screen and is compatible with memory card (SD and MMC), USB and Aux-in.

      Built of Volkswagen's MQB platform, the new Octavia sedan comes with a number of technology features that help in attaining high security levels. There are Parktronic sensors for the help of the driver, wherein the system automatically assess the presence of any sort of obstacles around the car. There is a Tyre Pressure Monitor (TPM) that alerts the driver in case the pressure in the tyres is less. The safety levels of the Skoda Octavia are enhanced by the Electronic Stability Control function, which is designed specifically for unfavourable conditions.
