      Skoda Auto global sales jump 4.1 percent in April 2012

      Skoda Auto, a unit of the largest European car maker Volkswagen AG, has registered a marginal increase of 4.1 percent in its sales during the month of April 2012. The company managed to sell a total of 81,400 units of its cars in the global market during this month as compared to 78,200 units sold in April 2011. According to company, this is the third best result of the firm after March 2012 and March 2011.

      In the period of January to April 2012, the company managed to sell a total of 324,100 vehicles as compared to 295,300 units sold in the same period last year, registering a sales surge of 9.8 percent.

      The cumulative sales of the company in Western European region declined 5.3 percent to 30,400 cars in the month of April 2012 as compared to 32,100 units sold in the same month last year. However, the company registered a significant gain in some individual Western European markets including 25.2 percent in Great Britain, 15.3 per cent in Austria, 13.5 percent in Switzerland, 6.1 percent in Norway, 3.1 percent in Germany and 4.8 percent in France.

      While the models like Skoda Octavia and Fabia remain the key contributor in the company’s sales, the models like Skoda Roomster and Yeti clocked significant share of the total sales of the company during this month.
