Modifications done on exterior front include a revivified front profile that shares resemblance with other models from VW’s clan. The front fascia gets a whole new look with the grille and head lamps assimilated into a V-shaped wing. The elongated grille slats stretched to the head lights and a single chrome slat placed over fog lights make the front look appealing.

Side profile of the facelifted Passat will feature distinguished wheel arches, glass work will be lesser, the low-slung and aerodynamic shape make the vehicle appear like a four-door coupe. Rear profile of the vehicle will come equipped with dual exhaust system and trimmed tail lights.

Volkswagen could house a new twin-turbo 2.0 litre, four cylinder TDI engine, pumping out a pinnacle power of 237 Bhp and peak torque of 500 Nm. The engine is likely to be paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox with an all wheel drive system. Within few months after the launch, a plug-in hybrid variant of Passat could also be rolled out, equipped with a 1.4 litre TSI petrol engine that yields 100 Bhp electric power. The above mentioned engine set up will most likely be offered in international markets, as far as domestic market is concerned, Volkswagen could continue to offer the current engine line-up.
