Toyota India will be launching the facelifted version of Corolla Altis tomorrow in domestic market. Toyota will launch the tweaked sedan in petrol and diesel variants. A total of nine variants will be rolled out including five petrol and four diesel variants. The Japanese auto maker had revealed renewed Corolla Altis a year back and the vehicle is already on sale in various global markets. At the 12th Auto Expo held in Greater Noida in the month of February, Toyota India showcased updated version of the sedan and had proclaimed its plans to launch it in the end of May. Deliveries are expected to begin seven days after the launch tomorrow; however the bookings were open long back at authorized Toyota dealers for a token amount of Rs 50,000.

India-spec model has received ample modifications to vary from the global model available for sale in American auto market. Changes have been made to the exterior and interior front. Successor model comes with increased length, width and wheelbase. Front fascia gets three-slat chrome grille, head lamps also come with LED and day time running lights. Alloy wheels sport a new design adding to the overall look of the sedan. Presence of additional features in the new version of the sedan will result in increased price tag, a hypothetical starting price of Rs 12 lakh is being expected for new Corolla Altis.

Toyota has retained mechanical setup, diesel models will continue to be equipped with the 1.4 litre D-4D engine engendering a top power output of 87 Bhp. Petrol trims will come powered by a 1.8 litre VVT-I gasoline engine that pumps out a pinnacle power of 138 Bhp. Power is transmitted to the front wheel through a six-speed manual transmission. A seven-speed automatic gearbox will also be put on offer in some of the petrol trims.

The company has been witnessing slump in domestic front since last couple of months. In the beginning of May, Toyota also rolled out Etios Cross Crossover. Hopefully, 2014 Corolla Altis and the new entrant in its portfolio, Etios Cross will help the Japanese auto maker regain its position in Indian car market.
