Renault Kwid has been popular pick in its segment. Supporting claims, the sales figures for Kwid in April show a growth of 211 per cent. Back at the 2016 Auto Expo event which concluded earlier this year, Renault had showcased the Kwid 1.0-litre manual and AMT variants. As per a revelation made by Sumit Sawhney, Renault India’s CEO and Managing Director, one of these variants might be available within the first half.

The new Renault Kwid variant will be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder SCe petrol engine. The company has not mentioned the power output figures yet but has stated that it will be a fairly powerful engine in its segment. Currently, only the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 offers an AMT option, while the Hyundai Eon is just offered in a manual transmission. The Kwid AMT which will be offered in only the 1.0-litre engine will emerge as a lucrative option.

Currently, the Kwid is powered by a 800cc petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. As for features in the new 1.0-litre Kwid, the car is expected to get optional features like ABS and dual front airbags, while higher trims will be offered with a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The car is expected to be priced competitively against Maruti’s Alto K10.
