The Indian arm of Volkswagen Group, a globally renowned German multinational automotive marque, has opened the registration process for its motor sporting rally competition 2013 Volkswagen Polo R Cup. Accordingly, rally racing enthusiasts can enlist their candidatures for the Indian edition of Volkswagen Polo R cup, which would be their first step towards winning the esteemed championship.
The German auto major is exploring its competitive footprint in the global motor sport arena and gives the winners of Polo R cup, a chance to participate in cut throat adventure events organised all over the world. The registration process is pretty simple and can be done online at the event's official website – www.polocup.in.
Volkswagen Group has already established a strong presence in the world renowned Dakar Rally and has underlined its authority in terms of world class automobile engineered products. The German auto maker is going to compete in the 2013 edition of Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) World Rally Championship (WRC). Accordingly, Volkswagen has developed a powerful version of its Polo hatch to be put to use at WRC, which will be powered by a 1.6 Turbo Fuel Stratified Injection (TFSI) power-mill. The Volkswagen 1.6 litre TFSI motor will churn out a 300 bhp of peak power output and its drivetrain will be coupled to a DSG gearbox along with an All Wheel Drive (AWD) configuration.
Expressing his opinion on the Volkswagen Polo R Cup, Kris Nissen, Director, Motor sports division, Volkswagen, was quoted as saying, “The Racing Polo meets high demands. It has to assure first-class safety standards, deliver dynamic handling properties and prove its robustness even in turbulent races. For young talent, Polo Cup provides the ideal basis to learn the basics of professional touring car sport.”
Further, Prithviraj Siddappa, Head, Motor sports, Volkswagen India, added, “For young talented Indians it is the first stepping stone into world of professional motor racing.”
