Valets mostly have the job of parking most exclusive and lucrative cars at several important places. It seems quite interesting to get to drive and manoeuvre the best of cars. However, a recent tragedy has shown why the jobs of valets are a risky affair. This incident has taken place at the Dubai International Financial Centre, recently, when the owner had handed over the keys of his 1962 Ferrari GTO California Spyder. Incidentally, this car is considered to be one of the ultra-exclusive and exotic classic super cars. This model has been one of the most sought-after models in the history of automobiles. It is impossible what went through the mind of the valet, unfortunately leading to a crash.

The incident occurred when the valet mistakenly pressed the accelerator pedal while trying to slam the brake pedal. This mistake led the valet to ram the 50 crores-worth classic model against something. There has been significant damage though it is salvageable at a high expense. The parking company, however, has agreed to take up the expenses of the damage done to the car.

The reason for the hype of the incident is the enormous exclusivity of the model. Only 55 units of the 250 GT California Spyder were manufactured in all and Chris Evans, popular British radio host, bought himself a model at RM auctions at a whopping USD 10894900, which comes to 69 crores INR. Thus, this model became the most valuable model in the history of automobiles.

On the flip side, Ferrari experts have been calling the car a replica of the original, though it is not assured till now. If that becomes true, the costs involved might go down by a fair margin. However, it throws some light about how can a prized possession be destroyed by subtle carelessness. This incident will definitely make luxury car owners to think twice before handing the keys to a valet.
