Premier Automobile, the emerging auto maker in the Indian market, is gearing-up to launch two new variants of its mini sports utility vehicle – Rio – in the country in upcoming Diwali Festive season. The launch of new variants will not only strengthen the position of Rio SUV in the Indian market but will also enhance its range to attract more buyers of this segment.
At present, Rio SUV is available in three variants in the country including Rio EX for Rs 5.29 lakh, Rio DX for Rs 5.54 lakh, and Rio LX for Rs 5.99 lakh. The vehicle is powered by a 1.5L diesel engine that has been sourced from Peugeot.
As per the industry reports, the new variants of Rio SUV will come powered by a Fiat sourced 1.3L MultiJet CDRi diesel engine. The SUV is also expected to be launched in a petrol version powered by a 1.2L engine. If the SUV gets launched in the petrol version, the company will be able to cut-down its price by up to one lakh, and that would make it the most competitively priced SUV in the Indian market. The new petrol variant is expected to be priced around Rs 4.5 lakh in the country. However, the company is yet to make any official announcement in this regard.
