Volkswagen Group-owned sports car manufacturer Porsche has gone ahead to release a group of official pictures of the new facelifted 911 model ranges. According to reports, the automaker released images of almost undisguised prototypes while they were testing in South Africa and they belong to the “991.2” generation of the Porsche 911. Porsche has made a few subtle changes in the design of the 911 and a few mechanical alterations have been made as well.
Some of the notable changes in exteriors include new bumpers (both front and rear) and a new cover for the engine (rear). The bumper at the front is skimmed aerodynamically and has been provided with daytime running LED lights and large air intakes. Another change made by Porsche is the repositioning of the exhausts, which have been moved to the center of the bumper (rear). Models of the facelifted Porsche 911 range are going to be fitted with changed headlamp clusters and tail lamps. However, the biggest change made by the automaker in this new range is mechanical, which has been done to ensure better performance and more environment-friendliness.
A report by Car and Driver suggests that Porsche will be including turbocharged and downsized engines in the new range of 911 models. As compared to the current 3.4-litre and 3.8-litre engines fitted in the Carrera and Carrera S, the new models will both feature 3.0-litre engines. However, like before, the power level delivered by Carrera and Carrera S will be different at 370 BHP and 420 BHP, respectively.
The report also suggests that the highest torque level will be of 500 Nm and it will be reached at as low as 1700 RPM. On the other hand, both models are now expected to reach 100 kmph from scratch faster by 0.1 second than the previous ones.
