      Polaris India plans to roll-out electric cars

      Polaris India, a wholly owned subsidiary of the leading multi-terrain vehicle maker Polaris Industries Inc, is all set launch an electric car in the Indian auto market, after the country gets rid of the problems like lack of infrastructure. By year 2016, the firm is looking forward to earn revenue of Rs.5 billion, by expanding its footprint in the Indian auto market.

      It is to be mentioned here that the firm already has electric cars like Gem and Breeze in its US and UK portfolio. However, India still lacks a proper infrastructure for the electric cars.

      Speaking to reporters in Kolkata on Saturday, Pankaj Dubey, managing director, Polaris India, said: "Once we launch the electric cars, then we will decide whether it will be on the road or off-road vehicle. The products are ready for the international market. Issues like infrastructure, battery and other problems are there." He was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of company’s a range of all terrain vehicles in Kolkata.

      The company is looking forward to earn 50 percent of its revenue from the segment of utility vehicles used for the industrial purposes and mining.
