Piaggio, the popular Italian two-wheeler brand, is looking forward to make the most of its assembly factory to cater its customers with high-capacity bikes. Stefano Pelle, the CEO of Piaggio India and Sanjeev Goyle, Executive VP said during a recent motorcycle event that the company is currently bent on the expansion of its high-end bike brands like Moto Guzzi and Aprilia. Also, Piaggio is looking forward to increase its dealership network in the country. This development will be based on the Italian Motoplex theme, which gets the advantage of marketing a number of high-end brands under a single name. It is expected to be a profitable strategy by the brand, though it will travel to India without the Motoplex name.

The Baramati factory of Piaggio, located in Maharashtra, has been chosen to carry out the CKD (Completely Knocked-Down) duties for the brand. It currently has a capacity of rolling out 150000 units every year. These CKD units will lower the prices of its bikes and it will also give the company the credibility to announce its presence in the market. The firm till now, had not been completely utilised focussing on its policy of maintaining the quality before numbers.

Recently, at an event, the company flaunted all of its popular motorcycles to amaze the audience. Moto Guzzi California cruiser as well as V7 based café racer models were the star attraction of the event. Aprilia’s flagship bike, the RSV4, was also present at the occasion, which stole glances of many. The company is also considering the upcoming scooter and MP3 three-wheeler, Primavera.
