      Newly launched S-Cross helps Maruti Suzuki widen its presence in premium segment

      Country's popular automaker finally announced the launch of its first ever crossover named S-Cross in the country yesterday. The company has offered its premium crossover vehicle in a price range between Rs. 8.34 lakh - Rs. 13.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). At the event MSI Managing Director & CEO Kenichi Ayukawa, said to reporters, “There is a segment of customers in India who want power and performance in their vehicle, but also the comfort and refinement of a sedan. It is in that spirit today, we are launching S-Cross.”

      The S-Cross will only be sold via the company's newly-launched Nexa showrooms. Adding further, Ayukawa said, "Starting today, S-Cross will be exclusively available at Nexa outlets. We have 35 outlets operational today across 23 cities. We plan to have 100 showrooms across 30 cities by end of this fiscal," The new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is only available in two diesel engine options - 1.6-litre Multijet DDiS 320 and 1.3-litre DDiS 200 engine options. The former one is mated to 6-speed manual transmission that generates about 118 bhp of power with 320 Nm of torque, whereas the latter is mated to 5-speed manual transmission that ic capable of producing a maximum power output of about 89 bhp with 200 Nm of torque.

      Some of the striking features in S-Cross are 16 inch alloy wheels, split tail lights with a stop lamp, black rear bumper with reflectors, DRL's, projector headlights and dual-slat chrome grille that compliments the standard silver skid plates. For entertainment needs, the vehicle gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with CD, USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity and navigation functionality. As for added convenience the vehicle gets automatic climate control, electrically retracting rear view mirrors and reverse parking sensor with display.
