Definitely, most of the people love driving. When it comes to driving across different states, it is allowed in India by paying a certain tax. However, for drivers who love driving to such an extent that they would like would like to cross international borders with their cars, the rules are a bit tough for the time being. However, it is possible that there is some good news for such people. If everything goes right and as expected, the rules for cross country driving are set to become a bit lenient. The 18th SAARC summit is supposed to be held in Neemrana in Rajasthan during the month of November. The officials who are supposed to attend this summit are expected to discuss on this issue. There are speculations that cross country driving among the member nations is set to become easier with a single permit, which will allow both goods and passenger vehicles to travel in all the SAARC nations.

As per the proposal of this draft, a single permit will be issued by the respective government of the country after intricate and detailed verification of all required documents. Once these permits are issued, they will be valid in all the countries of SAARC. There shall be multiple entries for cargo transportation as well as for standard passenger vehicles. However, the permits will be valid only for a year. After one year, the permits would have to be renewed. Till a period of five years, these permits would be renewed.

There are certain other rules, which need to be followed. According to this proposal, only certified checkpoints are allowed to be used for entering another country with a valid permit. Vehicles will not be allowed to trespass through unauthorized routes. Such an occurrence would be taken as a violation and will be dealt severely. All valid documents like passport, details of vehicles and pollution control would be verified before allowing entrance to a vehicle.

However, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Maldives have no taken part in this summit. Maldives and Pakistan had informed well on advance that they would not be able to send their representatives. At the last moment, Bangladesh also joined them. As a result, this unified permit for all the SAARC nations will not be valid in Maldives, Pakistan and Bangladesh, which reduces the connective in this region.
