Mercedes-Benz India will be launching the newCLAClass in India by the end of this year; the sedan will be a part of entry level sedan segment. Local assembling ofCLAClass will help the car maker to price it competitively, it is expected that Mercedes could price the vehicle between Rs 25lakhto Rs 30lakh.Other entry level premium sedans thatCLAClass will compete with include BMW 1 Series and the upcoming Audi A3. Audi A3 could be launched prior toCLAClass during the third quarter and is also rumoured to be priced a tad below its potential rivals. Audi A3 will also be assembled locally in India at the company’s manufacturing plant, an expected price of Rs 25lakhis being speculated for A3.
NewCLAClass will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options, the diesel variant will get a 2.2 litre motor engendering a top power and torque output of 107Bhpand 250Nmrespectively. Petrol variants on the other hand will be equipped with a 1.6 litre gasoline engine that belts out a maximum power of 121Bhpalong with a top torque of 200Nm. AnAMGversion is also expected to be launched in India which will be powered by a 2.0 litrepowertraindelivering 360Bhpand 450Nm. NewCLAClass is expected to return decent fuel economy, diesel variant is expected to return 20kmpland petrol version is speculated to run 15kmson a litre.
A seven speed dual clutch transmission will be synchronized to both petrol and diesel engine. Mercedes will equip newCLAClass with ample safety features like active parking assist, collision prevention assist, attention assist, ESP, brake assist and electromechanical power steering system. Comfort features like automatic AC with climate control function, an advanced instrument panel, leather covered seats and others will be proffered inside the cabin.
