Maruti has specifically developed 14 vehicles to be used during the CWG including 10 Maruti SX4 and 4 electric Eeco variants. "I am happy that engineers at Maruti Suzuki have developed these future technology vehicles. This project has helped our engineers to increase their knowledge and enhance their R&D capability," MSI Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said.

Maruti had showcased the concept models of these variants earlier this year at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. A team of 25 engineers have worked on these variants to develop production ready models. Maruti SX4 is 25 percent more fuel efficient than the existing variant and the electric Eeco runs 100 km in a single recharge.
