Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown automaker is planning to multipe cars in the country in the next 18 months. The company will launch the S101 compact SUV, U301 Bolero, XUV 500 facelift and Scorpio Automatic this year. Moreover, Mahindra is also working on the Quanto facelift, which is likely to go on sale by mid-2015. The current generation Quanto, despite being smartly priced, failed to generate volumes for the maker. Its boxy styling is a major reason behind its low sales, which the company has finally decided to address. The updated Quato will get a new look.

Here is a spy shot of the updated Quanto, which looks better than the current model. Although the model was heavily camouflaged, we can see a more aggressive front end that offers a MINI SUV type styling to it. It is expected that the small SUV will share its styling with the new Scorpio, which now uses straight lines and edges instead of the curves to further enhances its appeal. The Quanto facelift is also expected to get a new set of headlamps and grille cluster. Overall shape of the car is likely to remain unchanged, while the rear is expected to get new tail lamps and plastic cladding on the tailgate.

Under the hood is a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 100PS of top power and 240Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels of the SUV via a five speed manual transmission.
