      New Jaguar XE displayed at Paris Motor Show, more details revealed

      After unveiling theXE S trim last month at a grand event in London, Jaguar has now put on display the entire range of new XE at the ongoing 2014 Paris Motor Show. The new XE range will start at 26995 GBP that is equivalent to Rs 27.01 lakh. The sedan will also be introduced in India by mid-2015 and is expected to be priced between Rs 28 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. Jaguar will produce new XE locally at its manufacturing unit located in Pune. Among its many firsts is the all new aluminium architecture, this makes the saloon first vehicle from Jaguar and the first saloon in its segment to be built on this architecture.

      The range starting SE variant offers 17-inch alloy wheels on the outside, inside the cabin, the vehicle gets features like cruise control, Sat-Nav, digital radio, leather wrapped steering and fabric seats. Prestige variants gets additional features apart from the aforementioned equipments like heated front seats, blue ambient lighting, contrast stitching and aluminium inserts. Range topping, Portfolio trim is bestowed with exquisite features including leather upholstery, dual-tone instrument panel, aluminium inserts, bi-Xenon headlights infused with LED daytime lamps, 10-way electric seats and 18-inch wheels.

      Other than these, Jaguar will also offer R-Sport trim that will get all the features available on Portfolio variant and other additional equipments like sports suspension, rear spoiler and chrome vents.

      On the other hand XE-S trim revealed in London last month is incorporated with 19-inch wheels and black centre console.

      Features like touch screen, forward facing camera, laser projection technology and semi-assisted parking technology will be offered as optional. Under the hood will be a 3.0 litre, V6 powertrain borrowed from F-Type Coupe capable of engendering top power output of 333 Bhp along with top torque of 450 Nm.

      XE will house four cylinder petrol and diesel engines from the newly developed Ingenium family. Powering petrol variants will be a 2.0 litre, turbocharged engine in two states of tune- 196 Bhp/280Nm and 235 Bhp/380 Nm. Diesel variants will be armed with a 160 Bhp/380 Nm diesel powertrain and a 176 Bhp/430 Nm motor.

      An eight-speed ZF transmission will be matched to the engines, while a six-speed manual transmission will be offered on the diesel variant only. India-spec model is unlikely to feature the auto tranny that has paddle shifts and Sport mode, however the vehicle will get an ECO driving mode for better fuel economy.
