      New Honda City launched in Australia

      Honda has launched the new fourth generation City sedan in Australia, the vehicle will be imported to Australia as a completely built unit from Thailand plant. Only petrol version of the sedan has been launched in the country skipping the diesel version. The successor model of City is AUD 500 cheaper than the outgoing version in Australia. Honda is offering City in four trims, besides the manual transmission the company is also offering an automatic version of the sedan in the country. City’s MT variantis equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox which is up for grabs at AUD 15,990 or Rs 9.05 lakh. Other trims are equipped with CVT gearbox and are tagged at AUD 22,390, equivalent to Rs 12.68 lakh.

      Honda has packed Australia-spec City sedan with a 1.5 litre petrol engine that delivers a peak power output of 118 Hp at 6,600 RPM and a top torque of 145 Nm at 4,600 Rpm. The 1.5 litre gasoline engine is capable of returning a decent fuel economy of 17.54 kms in a litre. Enhanced wheelbase by 50mm offers roomier cabin space, the sedan also comes with the best in class boot space of 536 liters, allowing ample space to store luggage.

      Honda keeps its promise by equipping the sedan with advanced features including reverse-guide camera, touch-screen infotainment system with Siri Eyes Free voice control function. High end version of City is being proffered with the Modulo body kit that comes with front and rear under spoiler, sportier grille, side skirt and rear spoiler.

      In India, Honda launched new City in the beginning of this year. Honda specifically designed diesel powertrain for the domestic market which has been accepted very well by the customers in India. Honda City has been contributing majorly towards the monthly sales of Honda Cars India, the vehicle’s sales alone accounted for 9,518 units in the month of March. With the new Takupara plant located in Rajasthan being functional the company eyes meeting the growing demand for its popular model City.
