      New Ford Endeavour arrives in India for R&D purpose

      Ford India has imported the new generation Endeavour aka Everest SUV in the country for Research and Development purpose. The imported unit features a powerful 3.2-litre diesel engine, which is one of the three engines announced. The company has already revealed the production version of SUV, which will go on sale in various markets including China, India, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and few others.

      The production-spec Endeavour largely resembles the Everest concept, which was showcased in 2013. However, there are some subtle changes given to the car to make it road compatible. The suspension system comprises of a coil spring setup at the front and a Watt’s linkage on the rear axle. It will be offered in both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.

      New Ford Endeavour

      The car features a new four-wheel drive system that has an active transfer case with Torque on Demand and a Terrain Management system. It comes with a large ground clearance of 225mm, and has a great water-wadding capacity of 800mm. The SUV offers a large luggage carrying capacity of 2,010 litres with the second and third row seat folded. There are four settings for Terrain Management System- Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock. The vehicle automatically adjusts the traction control and throttle and transmission response.

      The new SUV will be made available in two diesel and one petrol engine- 3.2-litre 5-cylinder, a 2.2-litre four-cylinder and a 2.0-litre twin-scroll EcoBoost petrol.
