After the recent launch of its latest SUV, Pajero Sport Automatic, Mitsubishi announced its plan for the coming years for the Indian Market. These plans are a part of ‘New Age 2016’ which is a well-planned strategy by the company to establish a strong base in India as well as in the other growing markets. The company plans to target the market by bringing in two new SUV’s in the coming years. Though, not many details were given out, it was revealed by the spokesperson that one of the SUVs to be launched will be priced higher than the Pajero Sport Automatic and the other one will be priced lower.

Tracking the older trends, Mitsubishi’s range of SUVs like Pajero, Cedia, Outlander, and Lancer, etc. have been discontinued except for the Pajero Sport which is available in the Indian retail market currently. Observing that such cars have received a better response, it is quite clear that the compnay will concentrate only on launching its best SUV range to establish well in the Indian market. However, it has not yet announced which SUVs are going to hit the market, strong indications are that they might launch the Next Gen Outlander and the Pajero SFX, which will be priced higher and lower to the Pajero Sport.

Also, Mitsubishi might plan on launching a series of passenger cars in the forthcoming years. As of now, the company aims at gaining a substantial market share with Pajero Sport Automatic, which will certainly help them to figure out their target customers. They are also planning to expand their retail outlets from 31 to 48 by March 2015. The expectation is to sell out 3000 units of Pajero Sport as compared to last year wherein only 2000 units were sold.

Industry experts believe that in spite of having amazing and high standard products, Mitsubishi has not been able to establish itself strongly in the Indian market, due to possible negligence of Hindustan Motors. But now it seems that the company is back with rock solid plans to reach high stands in the future years.
