Mitsubishi, the Japanese automaker, is aiming to increase its product portfolio in the Indian market. The company currently sells only the Pajero Sport SUV, which recently received the automatic version. Interestingly, the maker is planning to introduce mass market products in the country. The Attrage sedan with diesel fuel options will go on sale in the country in 2016-17. But, the maker is currently focusing more on SUVs in India.

Mitsubishi India is planning to re-launch the company’s flagship SUV Outlander, which was phased out in 2013. The lack of diesel engine was the main reason behind the removal of this powerful SUV from the country. Adding to it, the company is also planning to bring back the Montero SUV in the market. If reports are to be believed, the Outlander and Montero will be launched in the country this year, but in petrol version. However, the diesel versions of the SUVs will go on sale in early 2016.

The new generation Outlander and Montero SUVs will get completely new exteriors. It is quite early to comment whether both SUVs will come to India via CBU (Completely Built Unit) or CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units, but the company needs to bring CKD units to keep its price competitive in the market. Mitsubishi Motors is also working on smaller SUVs, which might also make their way to our market in near future. Moreover, the maker might also introduce the Mirage hatchback in our market.
