Official spokesperson of Mercedes Benz has put an end to ongoing media speculations about the new Mercedes A-Class coming to Indian markets. The spokesperson has officially stated that Mercedes is not working on any plans to introduce its small car premium model in the Indian market.
Mercedes A-Class is a super luxury small car model which is globally present in several market but is conspicuously absent from markets like India, China and North America. The speculated price tag of the A-class model was Rs. 20 lakh which experts had claimed unrealistic for a small car in India. The company believes this isn’t the right time to bring A-Class of even B-Class model cars to the country. These are usually the entry level models in various European markets but definitely Mercedes finds it tough to believe that there will be good amount of takers in the Indian market.
Mercedes is definitely working on its C-Class model and has already introduced no-frills version of C220 CDI variant in the Indian market. The BMW 3-series diesel sedan model is already extremely successful in the domestic market and the new C220 CDI stripped down version is an apt competitor.
