A heavily camouflaged A-Class hatchback has once again been spotted testing and there are mild changes to this prototype after the previous sighting last month.

This A-Class test mule still doesn’t reveal much about the exterior changes to the body panels, but it gets alloys instead of the earlier steel wheels, and there are two sensors behind the rear view camera (the earlier prototype had one). This basically implies that the prototype has updated electronics for the upgraded functions to the car.

As the next A-Class is based on the bigger MFA2 platform, it will be larger than the current W176 model that was pressed into duty in 2012. So, it is obvious here that the cabin of the new car will be larger. Plus, it has been claimed that Mercedes has the option of liberating more head room by shifting the seats lower down in the new car.

Though there’s no confirmation from Mercedes about the engines, the current motors may possibly be tweaked before fitment in the next A-Class. Plus, there’s some speculation about the brand new 2.0-litre turbodiesel motor and plug-in hybrid powertrain (both under development) being used in the new iteration.

Mercedes may introduce the new A-Class in the first quarter of 2017, so stay tuned.
