      Mercedes-Benz and Rolls Royce among nearly 100 new companies to offer placements at IIT-M

      Luxury car makers Rolls Royce and Mercedes Benz, along with many other companies, for the first time in their history will offer placements to prospective students of IIT Madras. The placement season for the students passing out in 2013 will begin from today, December 1, which will witness around 200 companies visiting the campus. Among these, there will be around 100 new companies, which include Walmart, Bajaj Auto, Procter and Gamble, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages and many more.

      B. Nagaranjan, deputy registrar, training, placement & public relations, IIT-Madras, confirmed the participation of nearly 100 new companies for placement this year. He further added that the interview process for the placement will be held in two sessions for the first two days, whereas from Tuesday onwards, it would be conducted in one session.

      Those companies that will be conducting interviews on the first day include Deutsche Bank Group, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Google India, Sony and Samsung, among others. Samsung is offering the highest Salary this year, which would give the postings to the students at various foreign locations, as well, apart from various locations in India.

      A total number of 1,263 students will take part in Phase-I of the placement season that would be conducted from December 1 to December 22. The second phase of the placement season would begin from January 16, 2013.
