Mercedes Benz India, the second largest luxury car maker in the Indian market, is planning to roll-out its new generation car series – A and B class – in the Indian market. The new A and B series of Mercedes will be positioned below company’s entry level range C-Class. The new series of cars will be rolled-out in the view of increasing demand for the segment of lower end luxury cars.

In a recent statement given to TOI, Mr. Peter Alexander Trettin, president and CEO of Daimler's central/eastern Europe, Africa and Asia regions, said, "The new range of A and B Class cars are currently under development and would be launched globally in 2013 (market introduction in 2012) along with India in the same year with Mercedes Benz looking at developing right-hand-drive versions from the beginning."

According to him, the new A and B series of cars will have a front-wheel architecture and will be priced lower than the current C-Class. The new range will be much more fashionable than their existing versions and the cars will be younger and much more modern, he said.

Most of the A and B series cars will be compact hatchbacks. The company currently sells the C, E and S-Class sedans and the GL and M Class SUVs in the Indian market.
