Sports cars have indeed caught the fancy of car lovers across the globe. Sotheby’s in New York has this time been the most trending place and center of attraction in the city. A sparkling 1998 McLaren F1 valued over $12 Million is said to be a part of about two Lamborghinis, nine Ferrari's and two Bugattis that would be put up for auction by Sotheby’s on 13th August.

The car is indeed a limited edition as only about 63 units of McLaren F1 were produced. The three seater car with a twelve cylinder engine generates about mind-boggling 680 horse power that enables the vehicle to attain speeds in excess of about 240 MPH. Speaking more on the occasion, Ian Kelleher, managing director of RM Sotheby’s said, “The market has remained very strong. People are not sitting on their hands. There are new buyers entering the market and younger collectors whose taste is evolving.”

Kelleher further added, “It is the single largest private collection that has ever been brought to auction. Last year we sold approximately $144 million of cars at Monterey, which is the single largest total for any collector car auction to date. This year we expect to eclipse that.” Identity of the Florida based car collector to whom this McLaren F1 belonged to, could not be known for now.
