      Maruti to double its dealership network in India by 2015

      Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the largest car maker in the Indian auto market, is planning to double its sales network to by year 2015. The expansion of the sales network will be done mostly in the small cities and towns, as the Indian auto giant has already penetrated the urban market with the largest dealership network in the country. The company will be focusing more on Tier-II and Tier-III cities in this phase of expansion.

      The company announced to open its 1,000th dealership in the Indian market on Thursday with inaugurating new show room in Surat, Gujarat. In a statement given on the occasion, MSI Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said, "Network expansion is strategic to our business and we would continue to focus on it. We target to double our sales network in next five years, in line with the company's sales plan."

      Moreover, with opening of new outlets in the country, Maruti Suzuki is also looking forward to upgrade its three year old showroom under its unique initiative ‘Nav Nirman’. According to Mr. Nakanishi said, "The objective of 'Nav Nirman' is to provide customers uniform buying experience across the country."

      Meanwhile, the firm has started making A-Star and SX4 models at its troubled Manesar plant. The company said in a statement on Thursday, "In the last two days, in addition to Swift, the company has also started making these two models at Manesar where focus until now remained on attaining normal production levels for Swift model."
