Mahindra XUV 500, the most awaited popular sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the Indian auto market launched on Wednesday, has been priced very competitively in the range of Rs 10.8 to 12.88 lakh. The pricing of the new Mahindra XUV has surprised many, as earlier the industry analysts were expecting it to be in the range of Rs 14 to 16 lakh.
Designed on a completely new platform, the all new Mahindra XUV 500 carries bold and aggressive designing cues at the exterior front. The car is packed with a range of premium features including touch-screen multimedia system, rain-sensing wipers, and a range of advanced safety features including multiple airbags, ABS (antilock breaking system), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), ESP (electronic stability program) for both driver and passengers.
While speaking to ET at the sidelines of a press conference in Pune, Anand Mahindra said, "The XUV 500 will get us the high seat in global auto world. It is a strong and bold step towards becoming a globally recognized SUV brand."
With competitive price tag, aggressive looks and a range of premium features, the new Mahindra XUV is expected to be the next big thing in the world of SUV in the country. It is expected to give a tough fight to the likes of Tata Aria, Toyota Innova and even the off roaders like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
Besides selling in the Indian market, the company plans to export the new Mahindra SUV in a number of foreign markets including South Africa, Australia, Latin America, Western Europe, Russia and China.
It is loaded with a powerful 2.2L mHawk engine, the new XUV500 will be delivering a peak power of 140 bhp along with a peak torque of 330 Nm.
