      Maruti Suzuki to train 20,000 people per year at its new Institute of Driving and Traffic Research

      The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India is aiming to train as many as 20,000 people per annum at its Institute of Driving and Traffic Research based in Rohtak. As per a recent statement given by a company spokesman, the new facility has been established through a Public Private Partnership between the Maruti Suzuki and Haryana State government. The state Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda inaugurated this facility on Monday, in the presence of a number of senior officials of the firm.

      Spread over an area of 14 acres, the new Driving and Traffic Research institute of Maruti Suzuki India hosts six class rooms. Each class room has a capacity to accommodate about 40 trainees. The new facility also has two driving simulators and a 1.8 km-long driving training tracks, a library, a driving laboratory, six cars and two buses.

      The new driving institute will be offering various courses to the trainees including courses for commercial drivers, customized driving training courses for police staff, learner license aspirants and special trainings for violators of traffic rules.

      By setting-up such facility in Haryana, Maruti Suzuki India has taken a big step ahead in the direction of bringing down the high road accident figures in India. As per an estimate, India loses as much as Rs 1 lakh crore in road accidents that claim about 1.6 lakh lives in Indian every year.
