Maruti Suzuki has been in the news for a long time due to the launch of its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which is reportedly named SX4 S-Cross. Now, according to a report by Gaadwaadi, this model has been spied testing in India with a “1.6” written on the rear. Experts believe that this could mean that the new compact SUV could be launched with Suzuki’s petrol engine or the Fiat-sourced drivetrain, both of which have a similar capacity and are sold in the United Kingdom market.

According to analysts and previous reviews, both these engines are good enough to give competition to the likes of Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster. The petrol drivetrain sold in the United Kingdom market is capable of developing a maximum power level of 118.4 BHP and torque up to 156 Nm. It is offered with CVT and five-speed manual transmission options. On the other hand, the diesel engine churns out a similar output but with highest torque of 320 Nm and six-speed manual transmission.

Reports claim that, Maruti Suzuki’s SX4 S-Cross will be manufactured at the firm’s facility in Manesar, Haryana. Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki will offer trim levels similar to other models in this car as well. In terms of dimensions, the model sold in UK measures 4300 x 1765 x 1565 mm (LxWxH) along with a 2600 mm wheelbase. Experts suggest that the manufacturer will offer similar dimensions in India and its price will match with that of the Renault Duster.
